CBD Tincture: A Detailed Summary

CBD is the most popular form of cannabis product throughout the world. It is a natural or organic and potentially safe remedy for medicinal use. With its numerous benefits, people consume it in different forms. It may be consumed as capsules, sprays, drops, etc. And one of them is tincture. In this article, I am going to discuss  CBD tincture in detail.

What is Tincture?

A tincture is usually a plant extract (CBD) dissolved in alcohol which is consumed orally. They are easy to take and easy to use as well. They are consumed by putting the right amount of CBD under the tongue of the patient.

It then gets easily mixed with the saliva and goes into the bloodstream. Once it mixes with blood, it starts to work efficiently. It takes lesser time as compared to other forms of CBD.

What is CBD Tincture?

CBD tinctures are produced by adding CBD rich hemp flowers in a high proof grain alcohol. It is then cooked for 2 hours over low heat. Alternatives for alcohol can be vinegar or glycerin. Although alcohol makes a very effective tincture, it can be quite bitter in taste.

It should be mixed with peppermint or orange oil to enhance its taste. The main content in it should be CBD. THC should be less than 0.3%. Also, the amount of THC content should be monitored before buying the product.

Proper Way to Take CBD Tincture

CBD tincture is consumed in a sublingual way. First of all, you need to take the correct amount of CBD tincture and keep it under your tongue for 60 seconds. Once it gets absorbed by the membrane under your tongue, it then travels to the sublingual artery.

From the sublingual artery, it gradually travels to the external carotid artery and eventually ends up to your brain. This whole process takes about 15 minutes. You can swallow the tincture after holding it up inside your mouth for 60 seconds.

Many patients are not comfortable with the bitter taste and hence consumes it with food or water. As mentioned above, it can also be taken with some drops of orange and peppermint oil to enhance the taste.

The tincture form of CBD works faster than the edible form. Although, it is not as fast as its smokable form.

CBD Oil or CBD Tincture: Which One to Choose

Now, the question arises, which one is better? CBD Oil or CBD tincture? Well, the answer to this question is quite easy. CBD tincture is more helpful in absorbing different compounds compared to CBD oil. This is because it mixes directly with the bloodstream due to the method of consumption. It works faster and in a more efficient way.

If a person is sensitive to alcohol and cannot consume it through the mouth, then he/she can switch to CBD oil. He/she can apply it to the affected area to get rid of inflammation and chronic pain. However, it will be less effective than the tincture as it does not get mixed with the blood stream.
